YI画廊于1999年在杭州成立，2018年在上海开设展览空间。依托于2007年经政府批复的非盈利性载体：西湖当代美术馆。美术馆以学术研究为主导，出版编著了数十本学术文集和画册，完成多项国家课题。多次举办国际学术学会议。收藏了塞尚、毕加索、马蒂斯、德朗、博纳尔、卢奥、莫兰迪、贾科梅蒂、赵无极等西方现当代大师作品，黄宾虹、吴昌硕、齐白石等中国古近现代大师作品千余件。
策划部策划了近百项重要展览，G20二十国领导人杭州峰会、金砖厦门会晤、首届进博会主会场艺术项目；亚洲油画特展；时间的形状；中国油画名家研究展；增爱慈善基金中国首届新领袖典礼；二十余届杭州政府青年艺术家发现推广计划；1-5届“世界向东”西湖国际软装艺术周；杭州国际设计周；蔡元培逝世70周年活动；威尼斯美术院院长雕塑展；杨福东DV展；七宗罪在杭州行为艺术文献展；米兰世博会中国艺术展；日月光华威尼斯奎里尼斯坦帕利亚基金会博物馆展等上百个展。媒体部编辑《艺术名家》始于2006年。事业部顾问数十亿收藏基金，与国际美术馆、艺术基金紧密合作，搭建美术馆学术共同体平台。
YI Gallery is located in the core area of Art West Bund, riverside of Xuhui district, Shanghai. It held many exhibitions, including “The Shapes of Time” with works of Morandi, Giacometti, Huang Binhong, Fang Lijun and Tong Yanrunan, “Splendors of the Sun and Moon” with works of Qiu Deshu, Gu Wenda, Xu Bing, Hong Ling, Yang Jiecang, Sui Jianguo, Tan Ping, Wang Tiande, Qin Feng, Ding Yi, Zhan Wang, Chen Wenling and Shi Jinsong at Museo Querini Stampalia, and solo exhibition of Giuseppe La Bruna, director of Accademia di belle arti di VENEZIA.
The gallery collects one hundred works of Cezanne, Picasso, Matisse, Derain, Rouault, Morandi, Giacometti, Freud, Albach, Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong and Zhao Wuji.
The gallery served as an art consultant for national art projects such as G20 in Hangzhou, BRICS Summit in Xiamen, and the main venue of China International Import Expo etc. It planned the program “Young Artists” for government. Collaborative artists were recommended though the gallery to participate in important exhibitions, such as the Venice Biennale and exhibitions and collections held at the world’s major art museums. The gallery holds Billions of collection funds, opening up industrial chain, including international art museums, galleries, finance, real estate and so on, and cooperating with Shangri-La, Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental, Westin and other international five-star hotels in public art projects.
The gallery is exploring the origin of Chinese culture and art and the way of contemporary excitation, and is committed to being an international art institution as a benchmark.
